Description

If you’ve ever had a blanket stay in your WIP bin because you were intimidated by hand sewing granny squares together, this is the perfect class for you! In this class, you’ll learn how to continuously crochet granny squares together so there is only 2 ends to weave in and no hand sewing involved. As we explore the basics of this crochet technique, in the end, you’ll be able to apply it to a variety of projects such as a washcloth, table runner, blanket and shawl. The possibilities are endless!

When: Sunday, June 14th from 12:15pm to 1:45pm

Cost: $10 — Bring Your Own Squares, Yarn & Crochet Hook

Level: Easy, but not beginner friendly. Must be comfortable working a chain and single crochet stitches.

Supplies that you need: Bring 4 or 9 crocheted squares that are equal to each other in the number of stitches, a respective yarn to join your squares with and a respective sized crochet hook. I will provide a written guide for the join as you go technique.

Note: It’s best to have a finished border on your squares, or make a square that is worked from the center out, as all of the sides are finished.

Want to make a specific kind of project? You will learn how to join crochet squares together, which will allow you to create any number of projects. I will provide some project examples, but I am happy to explore other project ideas with you during the class, or feel free to come to our Stitch Meet Up Event on the 3rd Sunday of the month to continue working together.

Note: I have no done this technique with knitted squares, but I am confident it could also work, since the edges are finished with similar V shapes.

If you need some square inspiration, here are a few of my free crochet patterns:
