For the next 7 days, we’re thrilled to be bringing you 7 DIY Fall crafts, featuring Fall crochet patternsn.
The Fall for Crafting Event kicks off on September 1st and will run through September 7th – 7 days in total.
I’m teaming up with my friends Emily of Crochet Aweigh and Candace of T&C Crafters for this event. Each day, there will be a different featured craft projects, and it will either be available on one of their blogs or on one of mine – EyeLoveKnots blog or Yarn Crafts & Coffee. We’re going to share a total of 6 crochet projects and a round up of free crochet patterns.

September 1st -Day 1 – Lilah Afghan Square
A crocheted flower square is such a fun project to add a textured element and the beauty of the flower motif to your home or wardrobe when you think of the huge variety of ways to use a crocheted square, and especially fitting for Spring or Fall as this flower can resemble a Hydrangea, Carnation or Mum depending on the colors you choose for it.
On it’s own, you can add a dowel to the top to create a wall hanging, attach the square to a canvas to make wall art, or use the square as a washcloth or trivet. This is an excellent way to bust through your stash too!
When you make several squares and sew them together, you can create a huge range of projects, such as a purse or tote bag, wearables like an oversized scarf, a rectangle shawl, a poncho or a sweater, and home decor pieces like a table runner, throw pillow or blanket.

September 2nd -Day 2 – Toby the Turkey
Nothing screams ready for fall like a cute little Thanksgiving turkey! The Toby the Turkey pattern by Crochet 365 Knit Too is a free pattern that works up quickly with the most beautiful colors and design. This cute little turkey is sure to get all your guests’ attention this year at Thanksgiving!
You could even make little versions of this turkey with worsted weight yarn and use them as place card holders for your Thanksgiving table! You’ll want to make sure you check out the pattern now so you have time to make a whole flock of turkeys!

September 3rd -Day 3 – Basic Leaf 2 Ways
Crocheted leaves are so quick and fun to make, perfect for scraps of yarn and can be used in so many different ways.
On it’s own, you can string them up to make a garland, work in scrubbie yarn to use as a face or dish scrubbie, attach them to handmade or store bought flowers, scatter them on a table as party decor, add them to fish hooks to create a pair of dangle earrings or use them on a keychain. If you’re making small crochet wall art or entryway table decor featuring a flower, you can add a singular leaf or more.
I love to use them on wreaths to accompany crocheted flowers or as an applique on things, like throw pillows and scarves.

September 4th – Day 4 – Sunflower Pattern Round Up
I love sunflowers all year round, but they seemingly are the seasonal favorite for Fall, and for good reason! They are in season, many cultures associate them with a bountiful harvest, and they are a warm golden yellow color, just like this time of year!
For Day 4 of our crafting event, I have gathered 10 free sunflower-themed crochet patterns from designers across the web! You will find something for everyone, from wearables, to home decor, to accessories!

September 5th – Day 5 – Granny square rectangle shawl
A rectangle shawl is the perfect accessory to drape over the shoulders or wrap up with for a little extra warmth and coziness. Alternatively, rectangle shawls work well as an oversized scarf.
Lion Brand Wool Ease and Berroco Vintage are lovely wool blends that would add warmth. For a shawl more appropriate for warmer weather, a cotton blend like Berroco Modern Cotton or Lion Brand Made with Love would be lovely.

September 6tH – Day 6 – The Ravencroft Cape
Inspired by autumn evenings, mysterious woods, a touch of the supernatural, and maybe a Scooby Doo movie, the Ravencroft Cape puts a unique spin on the classic granny square. Featuring a striking diagonal granny-square border, this cozy cape has a dramatic silhouette while remaining wonderfully wearable.
The Ravencroft Cape is a made-to-measure garment, designed to be customized to your measurements for a comfortable fit. The cape is constructed from the bottom up, beginning with granny squares and triangles that are joined together before the main body is worked upward toward the shoulders and neckline.
I used Trusty Sock from Swan City Yarns, one of our local Florida yarn dyers. This is a fingering #1 weight yarn that is comprised of 75% Superwash Merino Wool and 25% Nylon. These colors just work so perfectly together! The sample used 555 yards of the main color (Nautical Wheelers), 216 yards of color 2 (Burnt Butter), and 205 yards of color 3 (Cavendish). My first choice as an alternate would still be an indie-dyed fingering weight yarn, but a cost-effective option would be Cascade Yarns Heritage.
Make it in a rich fall palette for maximum autumn vibes, or choose just one or two colors for a more understated look. However you style it, the Ravencroft Cape is sure to become a favorite Autumn layer, adding a little witchy magic to your everyday wardrobe.

September 7th – Day 7 – Landon Wreath
On my front door, you’ll always find a wreath. I just love coming home to a cheerful wreath – it really brightens up my day.
I have been working to update the designs in my Hilda crochet series, and that includes a wreath covered in beautiful, textured crochet flowers. Originally, it started with a single crochet base, but because I use that base for most of my wreath patterns, I decided to create a new wreath base worked in the moss stitch aka the linen stitch, and then cover that in flowers.
I am working on a variety of sized flowers and crocheted leaves to embellish the wreath with, but until I get them all finished, you can use this easy moss stitch crochet wreath pattern to create your own easy wreath base that you can use all year long by simply embellishing it to fit the time of year.
