Lion Brand Made with Love Yarn The Cottony One is a worsted weight yarn made of 60% acrylic and 40% cotton that is perfect for home projects, like baby blankets, table runners, coasters, baskets and wall hangings, as well as bags ie a sunglasses case, clutch, cosmetic bag, notions bag, shoulder bag, tote bag, market bags, all the bags! You’ll love that your project will be easy to care for being machine washable and dryable!

As a crocheter, I don’t normally work with cotton blends where the yarn favors the cotton fiber. I tend to lean into either a 100% cotton or a cotton blend that favors the secondary fiber, whether that’s acrylic, bamboo, etc. just because my experience is usually that when it favors the cotton fiber, it’s more on the dry side – like cotton is – it doesn’t stretch well – it tends to to grow and grow and not really bounce back like you’d expect it to with that secondary fiber in there – and it produces a heavy fabric – even heavier than 100% cotton alone. This yarn checks all 3 of these boxes for me.

I think it is the most dry feeling out of all of the blends I’ve tried. That paired with a really tight twist of the yarn makes for a rope-like yarn. I know there are some makers out there that cannot use tough yarns, like cotton, because of shoulder pain. I would put this yarn into that same category – it’s tougher on the hands and arms than cotton is.

With that said, don’t be so quick to write it off. I think the dryness and the tightness of the twist really add to the durability of the yarn making it excellent for home projects and bags and I plan on using it in my projects where this type of yarn fits best.

Set Up: Center pull skein that is ready to use!

Care Instructions: Machine washable in cold water on the gentle cycle, and dryable on low heat. I do recommend rolling in a towel first to press the water out, and then machine drying. Depending on the project, you may need to run it through twice and/or lay flat to dry remainder.
