Stitch Meet Up:

Sunday Meet Up — 3rd Sunday Each Month from 2:00pm to 4:00pm

On the 3rd Sunday of each month, myself, Alexandra, and Emily of Crochet Aweigh hang out and crochet together. Previously, we did so in the living room of the Yarn Crafts & Coffee shop — that’s booth 50 inside America’s Antique Mall, but it’s a small space so we’re now going to be exploring other small businesses around town to give a more comfortable place for makers to gather, enjoy snacks and drinks and support other small businesses in the process.

Bring a project to work on or check the free pattern binder for other project ideas. Emily and I are both crocheters so you will see us crocheting throughout the day, but knitters, needlepointers, embroiderers, readers — all are welcome to come, hang out and chit chat. This is not a one-on-one, beginners class, but there is usually someone available to help answer any questions you may have about crocheting and/or to help get you started if you want to learn.

Sunday, May 17th: Join us at Munchies en Ruedas & make sure to RSVP so we can have an idea of how many guests to expect

Munchies en Ruedas is a Mexican restaurant located at 1248 Sarno Road in Melbourne. Check them out on Instagram or Facebook.

Cost to Attend: $0.00.

RSVP on the Facebook event or email Alexandra at EyeLoveKnots at gmail.com

Themed Yarn Parties:

I love a good yarn themed party so we’ve decided to host one every other month in the Yarn Crafts & Coffee shop — that’s booth 50 inside America’s Antique Mall. The photo above is from our Lemon & Blueberry themed party in April of 2026. Due to limited space, these are more of an untraditional party than you might expect, but we will have:

— a themed display of crochet, knit and plastic canvas projects —

— notions such as stitch markers, crochet hooks and projects bags available that fit the theme —

— fresh baked cookies from The Moonlit Spoon that also fit the theme —

— restock on yarns, especially colorways that fit the theme —

— a new exclusive hand dyed yarn colorway from Pearl & Plunder especially dyed for the event —

— free crochet, knit and plastic canvas pattern hand outs —

— raffle for a yarn giveaway —

Cost to Attend: $0.00

Crochet Classes:

How to Crochet a Mosaic Crochet Granny Square — Saturday, May 9th from 10:30am to 12:30pm {Reserve your spot}

Cost: $20 — Yarn Included, Bring Your Own Crochet Hook

Level: Easy, but not beginner friendly. Must be comfortable working a chain and single crochet stitches. Experience working in the round is a plus, but not necessary.

Inset mosaic crochet is such a fun technique! In this class, you’ll learn how to crochet a center out blanket square using the inset mosaic crochet technique to create a fun, window or block pattern. As we explore the basics of this crochet stitch pattern and technique, in the end, you’ll be able to turn your finished square into a variety of projects such as a coaster, washcloth or blanket made of one continuous square, or multiple squares sewn together to create other crochet projects, like a tote bag or table runner. The possibilities are endless!

Supplies that are included: A written crochet pattern & 2 balls of Lion Brand Local Grown Cotton, a worsted weight #4 cotton yarn.

Supplies you will need to bring (or purchase in the shop): A H8/5mm crochet hook. If you plan to add a finished border to your square, bring a G6/4.25mm or 7/4.5mm crochet hook.

Note: If you prefer working with a different sized crochet hook when crocheting with worsted weight cotton yarn, such as a I9/5.5mm, feel free to bring that instead and then hook that is one size smaller for the border.

Want to make a specific kind of project? You will learn how to start a mosaic crochet square from the center out and how to build the increases, which will allow you to create squares to your desired size for your desired project. I will provide some project examples and crochet patterns available, but I am happy to explore other project ideas with you during the class, or feel free to come to our Stitch Meet Up Event on the 3rd Sunday of the month to continue working together.

Plastic Canvas Needlepoint Classes:

How to Needlepoint a Scotch Stitch Mug Rug — Saturday, May 9th from 3pm to 5pm {Reserve your spot}

Cost: $20 — Supplies Included

Plastic canvas needlepoint involves using a hand sewing technique to create decorative stitches over a plastic mesh, and one of the great things about it is that you do not need to have any crafting experience to work plastic canvas crafts and it’s easier on your hands and eyes than needlepointing (or cross stitching) on fabric, like you’re probably more used to seeing.

Note: coasters are shown as the photo for this class. The mug rug will be a variation of this pattern and a different size.

In this class, you’ll learn how to cut out a plastic canvas shape and work the scotch stitch to create a mug rug that is perfect for housing your favorite drink and snack, or use in other ways, such as underneath a soap and lotion hand dispenser or with a plant or candle on top.

We’ll explore the basic sizing information for mug rugs and how to work the scotch stitch so in the end, you’ll be able to custom create mug rugs later using different stitch patterns or matching projects also worked using the scotch stitch.

Supplies that are included: A written crochet pattern with chart, 1 ball of acrylic yarn (TBD), 7 mesh plastic canvas and a tapestry needle.

Want to make a different project? I am happy to explore other project ideas with you during the class, or feel free to come to our Stitch Meet Up Event on the 3rd Sunday of the month to continue working together.

In the Field:

The shop’s home base is inside America’s Antique Mall in Melbourne, Florida, but I love attending special events, like the Brevard County Farmers Market, and teaching in other locations as well, like at Crochet Aweigh in Eustis, Florida! Here are some other events where you’ll find me:

Endless Summer Wreath — Thursday, February 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Crochet Aweight in Tavares, Florida {Must Pre-Pay Here to Reserve your Spot}

I love Hydrangeas. This crocheted flower is my version of that beautiful flower. I’ve made so many different versions of this wreath with different color schemes and various sizes of flowers – it’s so much fun! And if you use sewing pins instead of gluing down your flowers (that’s what I did), then you can easily change out the flowers throughout the year.

This wreath is a beginner friendly project. We start with a rectangle worked in rows, then sew that around the wreath form. The flowers are worked in chains and single crochets and the sewn together. You do not have to know how to crochet to take this class.

Cost: $40 — Supplies included

Supplies will include a written crochet pattern, a 12″ styrofoam wreath, 2 balls of worsted weight #4 yarn — specifically, Cascade Pacific or Berroco Modern Cotton (or any other yarn equal in price) — and a H8/5mm crochet hook. I will have other supplies on hand such as tapestry needles for sewing, glue and sewing pins.

For me, this wreath came together in around five hours. The wreath base cover itself took just over two hours. The smaller flower takes about 9 minutes, and the larger flowers about 12 minutes to stitch and sew up. Pay once for the class, and return in the same time slot on another Thursday evening or during Tuesday night Stitch Night or select times on Wednesdays to continue working and/or finish the wreath together.

In this class you will review / learn how to: read a crochet pattern — make a slip knot — crochet a chain — work into a chain — single crochet in rows — measure rectangle to ensure proper fit — whipstitch (for seaming) — weave in ends — crochet flowers — crochet an optional wreath hanger.

  1. Hello my sister and I are looking into learning how to crochet and are wondering about lessons? We took 1 basic lesson but would like to find a session so we can eventually join your Sunday events.

    1. Hi Michelle! Sorry for the late reply. We are celebrating our 2nd birthday on Sunday, April 19th, and we will resume classes and the Sunday stitch day after this. I teach how to crochet during the Sunday stitch day, which will be held on the 3rd Sunday of each month starting in May – for free, you just need to purchase a crochet hook and yarn to get started or come with your own supplies if you have them, and then a more advanced crochet class will be held on select Saturdays.
